Summer Soiree

One thing I love about the month of June is the wonderful amount of good time gatherings. Lizzy Norvell's graduation party was today so I got all of the things on my to-do list done in the morning. I got to their house early in the afternoon so I could help set up/spend time with the Norvell family.

After helping out as much as we younguns possibly could, Nora, Lizzy, Emily, Seth, and I played LIFE, Snood, and just plain chillaxed. I'm so blessed to be the friend of such a great group of people who know how to have a good time with boardgames and jokes about AARP.

It was a hoot; about the time guests were expected to arrive, two ladies walked into the Norvell's home (there was a sign outside that said "Come In!") carrying gifts. They looked around at all of us sitting in the living room and asked where Andrea was. They had lost their invitation to a bachelorette party that happened to be occuring at the same time on the same street! They told us that they were wondering why there were guys invited too.

The thing I liked most about Lizzy's party was that it was so cool getting to see people whom I rarely see yet absolutely relish seeing. The Stillmakers came by and we got to catch up. After the party Rob came over and we all got ourselves caught up with each other's lives. Well, for the most part.

[Sometimes though I wish that I didn't always have to play "catch up" everytime I see my friends. So much time passes between our meetings that we always have to start at Level 1 with the usual "How's life?" and "How's the job?" It'd be nice to have an "M and Me" friendship with everyone that is important to me.]

Nora is one cool cat. She has so many ambitions leading her and so much drive that she could probably do it all. I know that whatever she chooses to do, she's going to make a huge impact on the lives of the people she meets.

Days like today make me feel content and peaceful. It's comforting to know that there are people in my life who will take the time to both listen to me and share with me their own dreams and ambitions. I think that takes a lot of trust. And even more than that, the fact that I come home to a family who loves me and takes care of me makes me happy to the core. I hope they know that I appreciate them and love them as much as I do.

I am so blessed.
